Cookies

What we set, what each one does, and how to switch it off.

Last updated 1 September 2026

The short version

Cookies are small files a site leaves in your browser. Some are needed for the shop to work at all. The rest are optional and you can refuse them without losing anything except the cart remembering you.

Strictly necessary

These keep your cart between pages, keep you signed in if you make an account, spread traffic across servers and block obvious fraud. They cannot be switched off from here because without them there is no shop. They are set by Shopify.

Analytics

These count visits, tell us which sections people read and where they stop scrolling. They are how we know whether the page works at all. The reports we see are aggregate and do not name you.

Advertising

If we advertise, these let a platform recognise that a visit turned into an order, so we are not paying to show the page to somebody who already bought. They can also be used to show you the knife again elsewhere.

Switching them off

Every browser can block or clear cookies from its settings, and most offer a private window that throws them away when you close it. Blocking the analytics and advertising ones has no effect on the shop. Blocking all cookies means the cart will forget you between pages.

If you are somewhere consent is required you will be asked before any non essential cookie is set, and you can change that answer at any time.

Questions about anything on this page go to info@chef-kenji.com and a person answers them.
